Tom Peltier

Managing Director

“The best way to consistently achieve transaction success is to over-prepare at the beginning of the process; this takes a banker with the patience and knowledge to do it right from the start.”

Tom is a Managing Director at Progress Partners, where he focuses on investment banking services across government technology and services, defense, intelligence, and, on a select basis, commercial technology services.

With more than three decades of investment banking experience, Tom brings deep knowledge of the technology solutions and services markets and extensive experience advising companies across both public and private capital markets. He has completed approximately 90 M&A transactions and more than 30 public offerings, raising more than $5 billion in proceeds.

Prior to Progress Partners, Tom was the founder and Group Head of the Aerospace, Defense and Government Services Group at Stifel, Nicolaus & Company, including the former Legg Mason investment banking business. Throughout his career, he has advised executives, founders, and boards on strategic transactions while building an extensive network across financial sponsors, strategic acquirers, and other sources of capital.

Tom was named Dealmaker of the Year by the Association for Corporate Growth’s Washington, D.C. chapter in 2010. He also serves on the Board of Directors of The Family Tree, a Maryland nonprofit focused on strengthening families and preventing child abuse and neglect.

Tom earned his B.A. from Bates College and his MBA from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business.
